Coach Speak – Prithvi
Meet Prithvi Jagan, who started at Great Goals in September 2021. Prithvi educated himself to be a dentist, but in his own words “life educated me on the values of sport”. He is highly passionate about developing football in the country and helping kids take up football and fall in love with it. You can read Prithvi’s blog here


You chose to be a football coach because….? |
The experience that I had playing football without coaching and seeing European nations have world class coaches train kids as young as 8 years old – I wanted the next generation to be given the opportunity that so many from my generation didn’t have – The amount of change sport can bring through coaching has kept me in it since I started |
Which is your favourite drill and why? |
Passing drills – since they encourage playing with a teammate and the also the fastest way to move in the pitch is by moving the ball |
What is your favourite moment coaching a class? |
The Warm up and the matches because this is when the kids are the most focused and are having the most fun |
Who is your coaching idol and why? |
Johan cryuff – Helped develop a totally new footballing culture and philosophy during his time |
What is your philosophy as a coach? |
Developing players on and off the pitch |
What is your favourite thing about Great Goals? |
The work culture , the closeness of the ownership to the program and the participants of the program |
What gives you joy? |
Helping to develop a player and to see him carry on playing football even after many years and being an advocate of the sport we all love so much |
What’s your favourite tool to motivate a player? |
Football matches – watching and playing |

A really well run place to work at. It is a stepping stone for many kids in the city to experience sport and the culture that comes with it – We have an immense responsibility to do good by the sport and deliver our best to whoever attends our program |
